Singing in the showroom at Billy Bob’s Texas puts an entertainer on the same stage as the hundreds of musical icons who have performed at the World’s Largest Honky Tonk. By winning the first Wrangler Retro “Live at Billy Bob’s Texas” Recording Contest, Josh Grider found himself stepping onto the stage once shared by Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Garth Brooks, and George Strait.
Grider’s path to Billy Bob’s showroom was slightly different from other entertainers. Realizing that it is a dream of most country entertainers to “make it” to Billy Bob’s, Smith Music Group and Billy Bob’s Texas teamed up to hold a contest that was voted on by the fans. Over 50 artists were nominated and promoted by regional radio stations. The top 10 semi-finalists headed to Billy Bob’s in June 2011 to perform a few songs. Videos of those performances were uploaded, and the fans overwhelmingly chose Josh Grider as the winner. With enthusiasm and polish, Josh Grider knocked out a veteran performance on his special night “Live at Billy Bob’s”, with his focus firmly on the future. Enjoy his work and spread the word of the next “Live at Billy Bob’s Texas” Recording Contest…where another star may be launched.
