49m
For most artist of country, red-dirt, or Americana music, playing on the showroom stage at Billy Bob's Texas is a measure of accomplishment. It puts them on the same stage as the hundreds of musical icons who have performed at the World's Largest Honky Tonk. By winning the "Live at Billy Bob's Texas" recording contest, Shy Blakeman found himself stepping onto the stage once shared by Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Garth Brooks and George Strait. Smith Music Group and Billy Bob's Texas teamed up to hold a contest that was voted on by the fans. Over 50 artists were nominated and promoted by regional radio stations. The top 10 semi-finalists headed to Billy Bob's to perform a few songs. Videos of those performances were uploaded, and the fans voted. The first year's contest was so popular that plan immediately went into action for a bigger and better 2ns Annual "Live at Billy Bob's Texas Recording Contest". The finalists in the 2nd year were all great, but when all the online votes were complete, Shy Blakeman was the fans' choice. Shy is a Kilgore, Texas native and was nominated by Midland radio station KHKX. Shy Blakeman had a stellar performance on his special night in the showroom "Live at Billy Bob's Texas". Enjoy a listen to an artist who shows a unique style and polish beyond his years, and says he's thankful to be living his dream.
